You used to notice things

Creative and cultural experiences in Malaysia for individuals, small groups, and leadership teams who want to travel, observe, and make things with intention.

Most of us consume experiences. Slow Lines is built around the opposite, creating the conditions to actually notice where you are, who you’re with, and what’s worth paying attention to.

A note from Hanniz

I’ve lived in Malaysia my whole life. I’ve been producing events here for over 20 years.

And I’m still discovering new places.

This is why I built Slow Lines, to share a journey I’m genuinely on myself. Every experience I offer is somewhere I’ve been, with someone I’ve met, or something I’ve made that has stayed with me.

When you join me, you’re not a guest on a tour. You’re a companion on a journey I would be taking anyway.

Begin here.

These are standalone experiences you can join on their own or as a first step toward something longer.

Visual Storytelling

A half-day in the heart of Kuala Lumpur

Capture the textures of everyday Malaysian life through a local lens or a sketchbook. Learn to document a neighbourhood the way a curious stranger would and leave with images and observations you couldn’t have made on a standard tour.

Suitable for individuals, small groups, and creative teams

A Day with a Local Creative

A full day or more

Spend a day with a working Malaysian creative. Engage with place through conversation, observation, and sketching. A creative exchange between people who are genuinely curious about the same things.

Suitable for individuals and small groups.

Nature Immersion & Forest Bathing

A half-day

A slow-paced, sensory walk through Kuala Lumpur’s tropical greenery. Attend to the sounds, the light, the atmosphere, and the particular kind of feeling that only exists inside a forest.

Suitable for individuals, small groups, and leadership teams.

Cultural Roundtable

A half-day

A curated lunch and conversation with local business owners, makers, and creatives in Kuala Lumpur. No agenda beyond genuine exchange. The kind of conversation that changes how you see a place and sometimes, how you see your own work.

Suitable for individuals, small groups, and leadership teams.

You might be the right person if…

You have a creative life you keep postponing.
You travel often but feel like you rarely arrive.
You suspect that slowing down is the most productive thing you could do right now.
You’ve always wanted to draw, sketch, or see through a different lens but never quite started.

You've built something. Now learn to live in it.

Most people who find this letter are good at building things.

They're also quietly aware that somewhere along the way, the living part got deferred. The travel they kept meaning to take. The Sunday mornings that never quite arrived. The version of themselves that paints, wanders, and notices things — waiting patiently for things to settle down first.

Things don't settle down. You already know this.

Slow Lines is written for the person who is ready to stop waiting.

Every Friday, you'll receive a short letter built around three things: a place worth paying attention to, an idea worth sitting with, and something being made, by hand, by instinct, or by someone who found their best thinking when they stepped away from the work.

It isn't productivity content. It isn't a travel guide. It isn't another framework for optimising your life.

It's a weekly reminder that a rich life, one with art in it, with unhurried meals and unfamiliar streets, with the particular satisfaction of making something just because you wanted to, is not the reward waiting at the end of the work.

It's available now. If you're willing to reach for it.

Join founders, business owners, and independent thinkers who read Slow Lines every Friday morning.

No noise. One letter. Unsubscribe anytime.

Occasionally, I share early details about Slow Lines journeys — small-group curated trips that bring this letter to life in a real place. Penang is first. More destinations to follow.
